St. Michael and all Angels
St.Michael's has long enjoyed a strong choral tradition, one which today's choir are continuing to maintain to the highest standards under their organist and Director of Music, Colin Davey. Some things have changed in the choir stalls of the Church of England since St. Michael's was built a little over 100 years ago. Much of the liturgy has been revised, female voices now provide a strong and essential component of the choir's membership, and instruments other than the organ are heard from time to time in support of the services. But some things do not change, not least the rich resources of English Church music reaching back to mediaeval plainchant, the desire of congregations to have their worship enhanced with joyful singing and the determination of choristers to sing great music well.
